Electron Partial Density and Temperature Over Jupiter's Main Auroral Emission Using Juno Observations

چکیده
We present a survey of electron partial densities (i.e., the portion total density measured between ?0.05 and 100 keV) temperatures in Jupiter's main auroral emission region using plasma measurements from Jovian Auroral Distributions Experiment (JADE) on Juno. The increases ?0.01 or 0.1 cm?3 near oval to few at edge measurable part UV equatorward oval. temperature is highest ?10–20 keV decreases down ?0.3–2 keV. JADE agrees within factor ?2 with derived Juno-Waves when comparison possible. trends are consistent for all sampled longitudes, north south, there no significant trend radial distance range examined this study (1.25–1.96 RJ). anti-correlated characteristic energy. ratio magnetic field strength maximum

Juno‐UVS approach observations of Jupiter's auroras
Juno ultraviolet spectrograph (UVS) observations of Jupiter's aurora obtained during approach are presented. Prior to the bow shock crossing on 24 June 2016, the Juno approach provided a rare opportunity to correlate local solar wind conditions with Jovian auroral emissions. Some of Jupiter's auroral emissions are expected to be controlled or modified by local solar wind conditions. Here we com...

متن کاملWilson Bentley’s Auroral Observations S
Wilson Bentley’s aurora1 observations in northern Vermont were made over the period from 1883 to 1931, thus encompassing the solar activity minimum at the beginning of the twentieth century. Long term series of aurora1 observations by a single observer in a region of reasonable frequency of occurrence are rare, and are important for the study of solar-terrestrial relationships. Bentley’s data h...
